Testimony from Nick

Nick’s testimony on 1/29

After a few hours of knocking on doors, I came to just another house… or so I thought… I started going through the survey and the guy interrupted me saying that he and his brother were just praying about an interview that he was about to go to, and he told me to pray for him and come back in an hour or so. . . So I did ^_^
When I came back he was practically jumping up and down for joy. He said that him getting that job was an act of God. So it turns out that he and his brother are really interested in having Bible studies with us and they said that they want to go to the crusades :D

All things work together for good to those who love God <(^_^)>

Testimony from Anthony

When it comes to door knocking I am the type of guy who sticks to the map. If the map says go left, I go left and if it says not to go down a road then I will not go down that road. However, on Wednesday of this week Nick and me were door knocking. I was only out there for an hour or so because I had to leave for a Bible study at 3. I was unable to get a hold of my Bible study contact (Tamara) so I decided to go visit her and see how everything was going. When I got there she was real busy babysitting and was sorry she didn’t call me to postpone our study. So, I decided to go back out door knocking where I had left Nick. We met back up and continued to door knock. Then Nick had someone he had to meet so he left but he also took the map with him. I kept going down the road and then I came out onto a main road. I had to decide whether I was going to go out on the main road or if I was going to go back into the neighborhood and door knock on the other side. When in this position I would usually turn to my handy dandy map; however, I realized I didn’t have the map, so I started praying. As I started walking back into the neighborhood I felt impressed to go out on the main road. So, I turned around and started down the main road. As I was going I was asking the Lord why He would have me go down this main road. There were so many cars going by and it was hard for people to hear me when I surveyed them. After a bit of rejections I was coming toward the last of the houses and at one of them a young lady named Nancy answered the door. At first she didn’t really want to take a survey but after I told her it would only take about one minute she said she would do it. At the end of the survey she signed up for Bible studies. I was so excited. I knew why the Lord had me go down that road. In fact, that was my only new contact for the day. When I met back up with Nick I told him what happened and then we looked at the map and realized I went down a road that was not part of our territory. Had Tamara called me and postponed our study I wouldn’t have given the map to Nick and I wouldn’t have gone down that road. At the end of the day I was able to see that God was guiding my steps and I was assured that His providence is always working in our lives ^_^

Unlocking the Mysteries

Here are some shots of our tri-fold Mailer:

The Devil almost prevents the mailers from being sent out

The Misfits had another obstacle. 3 of the members went down on Sunday, part of their schedule included going to La Sierra Academy to lead out in their chapel.

Jessica and Michael had to get all the TJM receipts out.

Testimony:

I was wondering why God wanted us to go back to Loma Linda, I soon found out on Tuesday night I got a call from Vivid Color Media, telling us that all 33,000 pieces of our tri fold mailers are not going to be sent out because the Orange County Post office told them that the mailers have to be sent out from Stockton (over 6 hours away).

The Mailers were designed and printed in Orange County, and they needed to be transported to Stockton, I told them that I would take them up there. Zack from Vivid Color Media, dropped all the marketing materials to my house, I had to swap vehicles with Shane, we cleared out the back to haul all 33,000 pieces (see pictures)

After I went to the Turlock Post Office to get all the paperwork, I then proceeded to the Stockton Post Office. We had to drop off everything. We were concerned that they would keep the Fliers

We were so concerned about getting this out. We appealed to the Post Master and he gave us a secret stash of Yellow Tags that said: "Expedite Immediately.

God was leading and we were able to get everything done right before (like a couple of minutes) 4PM. Which helped us get the Mailers out at the nick of time

(Speaking of the nick of Time)

Thousands of Mailers will go to Modesto this weekend!

The Misfits become movie stars

Jessica Smiling as she "tries" to memorize the script

The Cool CCBN Screens

The Misfits became movie stars for a day. They had to film a promo video for their upcoming crusade. So together with CCBN (Creator's Call Broadcasting Network) and other members from Finish The Work, they spent the day filiming in a light room or is it a dark room?

We will publish it as soon as it is available!

Big Thanks to Creator's Call: http://www.creatorscall.org/

More from Turlock SDA

March 13-28, 2009 Finish The Work will be launching it's next crusade at the Turlock SDA church. In preparation for the series, they went door to door.

Turlock is known for their agriculture, fresh nuts (especially their Almonds) and Fruits. Turlock is one of the most "religious areas" in the state. However, there is a small Adventist presence.

Jenny took two kids with her and the first door they knocked on they received a bible contact

Kristina took someone door to door, and they got a bible study contact.

Tina brought someone door to door for the first time

Luke brought Alfred door to door. This was a very amazing testimony, because Alfred confessed that the person that the Lord was trying to reach was him. He is the one who needs bible studies

Turlock SDA Revival

Beautiful Turlock SDA church Sanctuary

(The Misfits are a branch of Finish The work ministries)

The Misfits joined their Finish The Work Brothers and Sisters this weekend, and their friends from AYM (Adventist Youth Movement). It gets tiring with only 5 people throughout the week to handle such large territory. To have a lift from their Bigger sister ministry was amazing. Total, there were over 20+ young people that teamed up with the Turlock SDA Church to bring revival and reformation to the community

Isaiah 58 ministry

The Misfits helped make blankets for the needy, this is part of an Isaiah 58 ministry. This was a lot of fun, The Misfits were able to make new friends, grab some good food and put their "craft skills" to use!

Door to door

The Misfits did a door to door outreach with the youth of Modesto Central. We were able to gain 11 New bible study Contacts!!

Sabbath at Modesto Central SDA

The Misfits Sabbaths are anything but usual. Jessica and Frances had to skip out on breakfast because they had a bible study scheduled at 9am.

Michael gave a weekly update on how things were going in the field

Frances gave a testimony of a guy who tried playing a practical joke on his roomate by "Signing him up for bible studies." So, when Frances followed up with "Joe" who wanted bible studies, the young man answered, I didn't sign up for bible studies. And Frances said: "Yes you did, I have your name, address and phone number. "Joe" then realized that his friends played a prank on him by signing him up. Frances continued to talk to him, then he realized that he was interested in bible studies! so, God was able to use someone like a twisted roomate, trying to mess around, and in turn "Joe" became interested in knowing more about the bible.

Frances and Jessica sang for special music: "here is a short clip"

Friday Night Vespers

The Misfits concluded Friday by leading out the vespers program with the youth of Modesto Central SDA.

We had special prayer with the youth, because the youth was in charge of the entire Divine Hour.

Testimony #2

Background: "I was waiting for my two bible contacts to start the study Thursday night. Frances and Jessica did a terrific job calling the contacts and "closing 2 young men to have bible studies" I was waiting with a third person for almost half an hour when I realized they weren't going to show up. Oh well, God is good, I had a good study with Richard and he actually said: "I believe it is providential that the other two did not show up so I could get my questions answered. I wondered whatever happened to the two individuals
-Michael

Situation: Frances, Mike and Jessica were driving home Friday. Frances was driving, Jessica was in front, Mike was in the back. Jessica shouted: "Wait Guys! I think the car (it was a silver mazda 3 series) in front of us is Clinton (one of the men who was suppose to make the bible study the previous evening). He turned into his condo, when Jessica said: "That is him!! Let's talk to him." The Misfits quickly busted a you turn and Jessica ran outside and excitedly knocked on his door. It turns out, that Clinton had to stay late at work, that's the reason why he could not make the study, but was very excited that we ran into him and he expressed interest in going to the upcoming crusade and doing the bible studies next week!!

The Devil Attacking - The "weak" of sickness

The Misfits concluded a very busy, tiring first week. It was filled with meetings, knocking on doors, bible studies, (People who canceled on bible studies), greet food, fellowship and hanging out with Miranda's.

This blog will highlight (Or should it be "lowlight") the attacks of the devil.
1. Anthony- Had one of the biggest migraines, he could not drive
2. Nick- Myseriously, one day he could not walk, it was as if someone clubbed his leg while he was sleeping- (he calls it the mysterious Tanya Harding incident)
3. Mike- Was battling: "No voice, a sore throat, and a nagging cough"
4. Frances- had a terrible cough, headache and....well really bad cramps
5. Jess- She was jumping all over the walls, but fighting a possible sickness.

Tabitha (Bible Worker for Turlock SDA) and Pamela (Bible worker for Ceres SDA) made the team breakfast on Friday morning, and the moment they saw that some of us were sick, they made a "natural remedy"

Michael loved it (He likes sour)
Frances, Nick and Anthony tolerated it
Jessica couldn't bare it. Here are photos dedicated to Jessica's reaction when she was trying to drink this natural remedy.
It consisted of: Green Apples, Grape Fruits, and a bunch of green vegetables.

By the way, thanks Tabitha and Pam for the breakfast:
Nick's quote: "It was the best breakfast I've ever had since becoming vegan"

Tabitha also gave the team tips how to be more effective bible worker!

Feeding the Misfits

One of the most popular questions asked: "What do the Misfits Eat?"
We aren't picky, we love anything that is vegetarian, (dairy and egg free is a big plus).
Uncle Doug, one of the Elders at Modesto Central SDA church owns two "Coffee shops, and deli's"

Let us introduce you to "Justin" He is the nice guy who makes our sandwiches each day!

So far the lunches that we have been getting have been a major blessing: Greek Rolls, Avacado Tomato sandwiches, Big Frank Salad Sandwiches, and tomorrow: Vege Burgers!!

In order for us to have the energy to knock on all those doors. It is imperative to have a good lunch. Thanks Uncle Doug!

Modesto Central SDA Church
It's a beautiful church in Downtown Modesto, right next to a homeless park. Perfect for Isaiah 58 Ministries ;o)

This is the "Misfits House" One of the elders of the church has given us a home to stay at for free! It's a cozy house 3 bed (One of the mattresses is a Tempurpedic), has a den with fire place, kitchen and a heater that works!!
